WHAT MAKES OUR KIDS ART SCHOOL IN MAHWAH SPECIAL

Art gives children an opportunity to explore ideas, experiment with materials, and express themselves in their own way. Our programs are designed to make learning art engaging while introducing children to useful artistic techniques and creative concepts.

From traditional art and painting classes to digital creative projects, students can explore different approaches to making art. Rather than focusing only on producing a finished picture, our programs encourage children to understand the creative process and develop confidence in their own artistic decisions.

Students can work with different materials and subjects while receiving guidance throughout their projects. This allows beginners to learn essential fundamentals while giving experienced young artists opportunities to develop their existing skills.

HANDS-ON CREATIVE PROGRAMS

Drawing & Sketching Fundamentals for Kids

Drawing is an important foundation for many forms of visual art. Students can explore line, shape, proportion, composition, shading, and observation while developing their drawing skills.

Young artists can work on imaginative drawings, character designs, landscapes, portraits, and other creative projects. Different drawing materials can help students discover the tools and techniques they enjoy most.

What Students Learn:

Painting & Color Exploration

Our art and painting classes give children opportunities to explore color, brushwork, composition, and different painting techniques. Students can experiment with colors and create artwork based on subjects that interest them.

Painting projects can help children understand how colors work together while encouraging them to make creative choices throughout the process.

What Students Learn:

Sculpture & 3D Art Creation

Sculpture allows young artists to move beyond flat artwork and explore three-dimensional forms. Children can work with clay and other materials to build, shape, and develop creative objects.

These projects introduce concepts such as form, space, texture, and balance while giving students a hands-on way to express their ideas.

What Students Learn:

Mixed Media & Collage Projects

Mixed media projects allow children to combine different materials and artistic techniques. Students can experiment with paper, paint, drawings, textures, and other materials to create unique artwork.

This type of project encourages experimentation and helps children understand that there is no single way to approach a creative idea.

What Students Learn:

Illustration & Cartooning for Young Artists

Children who enjoy characters and storytelling can explore illustration and cartooning projects. Students can learn how expressions, poses, characters, and visual details can communicate ideas and stories.

Projects may include character creation, comic-style artwork, illustrated stories, and imaginative worlds.

What Students Learn:

Digital Painting & Creative Art

Digital art gives young creators another way to experiment with colors, shapes, characters, and visual storytelling. Digital painting classes can introduce students to digital creative techniques while building on traditional art fundamentals.

Students interested in technology and art can explore how artistic ideas can be developed using digital tools.

What Students Learn:

ONLINE ART COURSES FOR YOUNG ARTISTS

For families looking for flexible learning options, online art courses can provide an opportunity for children to continue developing their artistic skills from home.

Online classes can be useful for students who enjoy learning remotely or families looking for additional creative activities outside traditional classroom settings. Depending on the program, students can practice drawing, painting, illustration, and other artistic techniques with guided instruction.

HOW OUR SUMMER PROGRAM WORKS

Week One: Explore & Discover

Students begin by exploring different artistic mediums, subjects, and techniques. This helps young artists understand what they enjoy and encourages them to experiment with new creative ideas.

Week Two: Build Skills & Confidence

Once students become familiar with different techniques, they can work on developing their artistic skills. Instructors provide guidance on areas such as drawing, color, composition, painting, and creative development.

Week Three: Create Personal Projects

Students can apply the skills they have learned to projects based on their own interests and ideas. This stage gives children an opportunity to make creative decisions and develop artwork that reflects their personality.

Week Four: Refine & Celebrate

Students can review and refine their projects while learning from the creative process. Finished artwork gives children something tangible to share, display, and feel proud of.
