Key Ideas

Why is it important?

  • Perspective drawing gives a three-dimensional feeling to a picture. In art, it is a system of representing the way that objects appear to get smaller and closer together the further away they are in the scene.

  • Perspective is key to almost any drawing or sketch as well as many paintings. It is one of the fundamentals the students need to understand in art in order to create realistic and believable scenes.

  • Watercolor project will help master the crucial skill of watching paint dry, and will teach when to apply more paint and how much water to use.

  • Watercolor offers the opportunity to consider ways of applying the paint, and the effect that layering paint has on the texture and color of a finished piece.

  • Clay stimulates the child’s curiosity, encourages  experimentation, and allows them to create 3-dimensional sculptures
