Lesson Focus:
Landscape Painting
Students will celebrate Labor Day through a landscape painting project inspired by the beauty and diversity of the American landscape. They will explore composition, perspective, color mixing, light and shadow, depth, and atmospheric perspective while creating their own interpretation of a natural or urban landscape.
Students will be encouraged to develop their individual painting style while strengthening observational skills and learning how color, value, and brushwork can create a sense of distance, atmosphere, and mood.
DRAWING
Students will create a drawing inspired by Labor Day and the people who help build and support our communities. They may illustrate community workers, local businesses, schools, neighborhoods, construction, transportation, or people working together.
The lesson will focus on drawing, composition, proportion, perspective, details, and visual storytelling, while encouraging students to think about how different people and professions contribute to their community.
